After procrastinating for many years, I started taking piano lessons in year 2000. After playing piano for three years, I decided to compose my own music. With the help of my piano teacher Amy Rose Immerman, over the course of one year, we composed three piano pieces.

The first piece titled "Reflections" was composed during a one week music composition program offered at CMA (Cincinnati Music Academy) by Amy. Later that year the piece was entered and won the first place in the Ohio Adult Composition contest. "Reflections" was also featured on the cover of the Keyboard Companion Magazine as well as an article on the composition program by Amy.

The second song is called "Bianca's Song". This piece took over five months from the beginning to the end. This is my personal favorite.

The third piece is called "Journey". This piece was written shortly after "Bianca's Song" in 2004 and it is dedicated to my parents.

Houman composing at CMA studio

All recording and mixing was done on a four channel digital mixer by Houman. Piano recording was done by Amy Rose Immerman, between 2004-2005 in Cincinnati, Ohio.

So what is Houman up to now days since he has moved from Cincinnati to Southern California? He is taking piano lessons with Evan Sachs . Houman is making great progress and Evan is teaching him some great piano techniques and some cool 70's songs.

After over six months of collaboration, Houman and Evan have finished composing and recording the latest piece, "Malaga". So far, this has been the most challenging piece that I have worked on. To make matters more complicated, Houman badly sprained two fingers in his left hand during a soccer game. Playing piano with splint is very challenging. During his three months recovery, Evan and Houman were able to fine tune the piece. Evan's creativity added nice touches to the piece, and "Malaga" was finally completed (9/1/2007). Recording and mastering of Malaga was performed over a period of two weeks at Evan Sachs Studio.

In March of 2008, Chopin's Prelude in C minor Op.28 #20 was recorded:

In the following mix down, I took Chopin's Prelude piano recording and mixed it with my electronic keyboard (July 2008).

Playing around with the electronic keyboard was really fun and I decided to compose a song. Here is a simple piece I put together (March 2008):
